Choose what to delete
Deletion is permanent. Browser-local data and data synced to your Lensable account are separate, so use the route below that matches what you want removed.
| What you want | What to do | What is removed |
|---|---|---|
| Remove one server-synced highlight | Account → Saved highlights → Remove. | The highlight text, page title, source link and saved date held in your Lensable account. Any browser-local extension copy remains until you delete it separately. |
| Remove one browser-local highlight | Open Saved Highlights in the extension and delete that highlight. If you are signed in and the highlight was synced, Lensable also attempts to delete the matching server copy. | The browser-local highlight immediately, plus the matching server copy when that request succeeds |
| Clear your Search History | Account → Search History → Clear. You can also pause it there so nothing further is recorded. | Every recorded search; saved items and the account stay |
| Stop following a topic | Account → Interests → Unfollow. Only available where following is switched on for your account. | Your follow, immediately — its name, cadence and muted setting. Briefs already delivered to you stay until the account is closed, and the shared topic is not removed. |
| Delete several synced highlights or other server-held data | Email support@lensable.ai from the address on your account and say what you want removed. Remove any browser-local copies separately in the extension. | The server-held data covered by your verified request |
| Close the account | Email support@lensable.ai from the address on your account and ask us to close it. | The account and its server-held data — including your saved highlights, search history, topics you follow and the records of briefs delivered to you — subject to the exceptions below |
Uninstalling
Uninstalling the extension removes everything held locally in your browser immediately. It does not delete an account or data already synced to our servers; request that separately by email.
Requesting it by email
Write to support@lensable.ai from the address on the account to request deletion of particular server-synced highlights, other account data, or the account itself. We may ask one question to confirm you control the address; we will not ask for anything sensitive.
We action deletion requests within 30 days and usually within a few working days, then confirm in writing when it is done.
What survives a delete, and why
Three things outlive the request:
- Billing records. Invoices and payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. They contain transaction data, not your selections.
- Backups. Deleted data can persist in encrypted backups for a short rotation window before those backups expire. It is not restored into the live service.
- Shared topic records. Where following is switched on, a topic is a single shared record rather than a copy per person: its canonical name, the sources set up for it, the material retrieved for it and the briefs written from it are held against the topic, not against you. Unfollowing or closing your account removes your follow and your delivery records, not the topic — other people may still follow it. If you were the first person to follow a topic, the name and description created at that point stay with the shared record.
Anything sent to an AI provider during a question is subject to that provider's retention, not ours. See AI disclosure.
Before a deletion request
Lensable does not currently provide a self-service export control. If you want a copy of server-held account data before it is deleted, request it from support@lensable.ai first. Deletion cannot be undone.
